Christine WegrzynChristine Wegrzyn is a successful elementary band director currently in her 22nd year of teaching. For the past 6 years she has been teaching 4th and 5th grade band and lessons at the Scott M. Ellis Elementary School in Greenville, NY. Although this is a small rural school, through high expectations, and much guided practice which focuses on developing fundamental executive skills, Ms. Wegrzyn creates an environment where students enjoy making music, work hard and the positive results reflect their efforts.
Ms. Wegrzyn received a Bachelor of Music from the College of St. Rose and a Masters degree as a K-12 reading specialist through SUNY New Paltz. She and her family reside outside of Albany, NY.
Scott M. Ellis Elementary 5th Grade Band Regardless of the level of musical difficulty, all young instrumentalists can play with musicality and pride. This session will focus on the steps to organize a successful elementary band program from recruiment to performance. Emphasis will be on developing a balanced ensemble, teaching fundamentals for young players, solving common problems, and instilling self-discipline in the young performer.
