RON CASE

Mr. Ron Case received his Bachelors Degree in Music Education in 1962 from the University of Miami (Florida) and his Masters Degree in conducting from the State University of New York at Fredonia in 1973.

Mr. Case began teaching in 1962 at Riviera Junior High School with a program of approximately 100 students. In seven years, he was able to build the band program at Riviera to be one of the premier programs in South Florida, with over 400 students participating. In 1967, Ron was named “Outstanding Young Educator of the Year” by the Miami Jaycees.

In 1971, after brief stays in the Williamsville, New York School District and at Greece Arcadia High School in Rochester, New York, Ron secured his teaching position in the Clarence Central School District, in Clarence, New York.

Mr. Case’s varied responsibilities in the Clarence Music Department have included teaching instrumental music at the elementary level, conducting the All-Elementary Band, directing the Senior High Jazz Ensemble, as well as directing various grade level bands at Clarence Middle School. In 2001, his Eighth Grade Band was invited to perform at the All–Eastern MENC Conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In

1998 Ron was awarded the “Richard Snook” New York State Band Director of the Year Award by the New York State Band Directors’ Association. The BPO/ECMEA (Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra/Erie County Music Educators Association) award for excellence in music education was awarded to Ron in the Spring of 2001. In June of 2003, Ron served as Senior High Band Director at the prestigious International Band Camp in North Dakota. Mr. Case has been a guest conductor for NYSSMA Area All–State Bands as well as various All–County ensembles. On several occasions he has brought bands to both NYSSMA and NYSBDA conferences. His professional affiliations include MENC, NYSSMA, NYSBDA and ECMEA.

Ron retired from teaching in June of 2003. Currently he serves as a brass adjudicator and major ensemble adjudicator for the New York Sate School Music Association (NYSSMA), and continues to pursue his profession as a guest conductor and music education consultant. In addition, Ron plays trumpet professionally and is a member of the Buffalo Musicians Union.
