Frank Bonasera is currently the band director at the Barnum Woods Elementary School in East Meadow, Long Island where he has been teaching since 1972. Frank teaches and coordinates all the wind and percussion classes and rehearses and conducts two concert bands.

After graduating from the Crane School of Music in 1968, Frank spent his 1st year teaching vocal music in Parrishville/Canton, New York and the next three years as the elementary/junior high school band instructor in the Lisbon Central School District in New York. Frank has developed and maintained a model elementary band program over the past 32 years. His bands have participated in numerous NYSSMA major organization festivals and always receive either a gold or gold with distinction certificate. Many of his students have gone on to become All County, All State, and All Eastern participants. He often entertains local band teachers from surrounding school districts who spend a day at his school observing his band rehearsal techniques and group lesson methods. Music majors at local universities have also visited Frank's school to watch him work as they prepare and study to become future band teachers.

Frank was recently inducted as an honorary member into Tri M, the International Music Honor Society. He has been twice honored by the East Meadow P.T.A. in recognition for his outstanding work with children, and at his up coming spring concert he will feature a composition by Carl Strommen that was commissioned by the East Meadow School District and dedicated to Frank and his concert band.

Mr. Bonasera was born in Brooklyn before moving to North Babylon where he spent his public school years. He joined the band program as a trombonist and was fortunate to have outstanding music teachers motivating and guiding him during his formative years. Frank holds a Bachelors degree in Music Education from Potsdam State University and a Masters degree from C.W. Post/Long Island University. He currently lives with his wife of 25 years and 3 children in Smithtown, Long Island.
