Dr. Ricky L. Fleming is Assistant Professor and Director of Bands at Buffalo State College, where he conducts the Buffalo State College Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble, and teaches applied low brass. Dr. Fleming earned his Doctorate of Philosophy in Music Education at The Florida State University where he studied with Clifford K. Madsen and James Croft. Dr. Fleming earned his Master of Music degree in trombone performance from The University of Mississippi and Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Mississippi Valley State University.
From 1992 98 he served as Director of Bands at William R. Boone High School in Orlando, where the band program received superior ratings at both District and State levels. Prior to that, Dr. Fleming served for six years as the Director of Bands at Memorial Middle School, where he was named Teacher of the Year in 1992.
Dr. Fleming has presented several clinics for Florida Bandmasters Association on the topics "Teaching Band in Multicultural Environments" and "Young Band Directors' Success". He has served as guest conductor for the Jackson, Mississippi All City Band, The Mississippi All State Band, The Ark La Tech Band Festival at Louisiana Tech University and a myriad of all county bands throughout the state of Florida.
In addition to serving as a Florida Bandmaster Association adjudicator for marching, concert jazz, and solo ensemble festivals, Dr. Fleming has also adjudicated for Classic Tours Companies. As a trombonist, he performed with the Bach Festival Orchestra for the 1995 96 season. He is a member of ASBDA and Phi Beta Mu National Band Fraternity.
