The Clarence 6th Grade Band
Ronald Case received his Bachelors Degree in Music Education in 1962 from the University of Miami, and his Masters Degree in conducting from Fredonia State University in 1973.
His teaching career began in 1962 at Riviera Junior High School where he began with a program of approximately 100 students and in less than seven years Mr. Case was able to build that band program to be one of the premiere programs in South Florida with over 400 students participating in it. Ron was named "Outstanding Young Educator of the Year" in 1967 by the Miami Jaycees.
In 1971, after a brief stay in Williamsville, NY School District and Greece Arcadia High School in Rochester, NY, Ron secured his present position in the Clarence Central School District.
Mr. Case's responsibilities in the Clarence Music Department have included teaching instrumental music at the elementary level, conducting the districts All Elementary Band, directing the senior High Jazz Ensemble as well as his present position as director of the Sixth and eighth Grade Bands at the Clarence Middle School.
In 1998, Ron was awarded "The Richard Snook" New York State Band Director of the Year Award by the New York State Band Director's Association. Currently, Ron is a brass adjudicator and a large ensemble adjudicator for the New York State School Music Association. In addition, Mr. Case has been Guest Conductor for New York State Area All State Bands as well as various allCounty ensembles. On several occasions, he has brought bands to both NYSSMA and NYSBDA conventions. Mr. Case's professional affiliations include MENC, NYSSMA, NYSBDA and Erie County Music Educator's Association. Ron also continues to play trumpet professionally and is a member of the Buffalo Musicians Local 92.
