Paula HolcombPaula Holcomb became Director of Bands at the State University of New York at Fredonia in 1999 after holding the same position for years at Central Colege in Pella, Iowa. Under her direction, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the Symphonic Band toured internationally to Canada, Europe, and Mexico and performed at Alice Tully Hall of New York City's Lincoln Center. As Director of Bands at SUNY Fredonia School of Music, Dr. Holcomb heads an active band program and conducts the Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony while she teaches undergraduate and graduate conducting.

Holcomb holds a dotorate in instrumental conducting from Northwestern University, where she studied with John P. Paynter. In addition, she has studied with Sixten Ehrling, Elizabeth Green and Paul Vermel at the Aspen Music Festival. She received her bachelor and master of music education degrees from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Having served as an adjudicator and guest conductor of bands and orchestras in 41 states, South America, Australia, Mexico, Europe, and Canada, Dr. Holcomb has also presented at the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic, World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles and other international conferences. Former assistant pricipal horn with the Des Moines symphony and past president of the Iowa Music Educators Association, she was keynote speaker of the Australian National Band and Orchesta Clinic in 2000, 2002 and returned in 2001 to do a conducting symposim. In 2004 she will be the kenote speaker for the South American Band Directors Association. Dr. Holcomb was recently presented with national leadership award from Kappa Kappa Psi.

Barry KopetzJames L. Hosay was born in Nashville, Tennessee, but has spent most of his life in his adopted state of Virginia. Growing up in Norfolk, he began arranging music for his school band at age 13. He wrote his first original composition two years later. Following high school Hosay joined the United States Army as a trumpet player, and graduated from the U.S. Armed Forces School of Music. After graduation and his first three years of musical performance, he served as music copyist for the U.S. Army Band. During this time he developed his composition and orchestration skills by studying the techniques used by top quality arrangers. In 1991, after competing against a large field of civilian and military writers, Mr. Hosay obtained the position and Composer for the United State Army Band (Pershing's Own) in Washington, D.C.

He has written arrangements for many well-known recording artists, including Pattie LaBell, amy Grant, Reba McEntire and Lee Greenwood. His music has been performed for U.S. and foreign dignitaries, foreign heads of state, and the President of the United States. He has composed original music for numerous high-level events, such as the re-dedication ceremonies for the Washington Monument, the U.S. Capitol Building and the ceremony celebrating the 50th Anniversary of NATO, which was attended by the heads of State of all NATO countries. During his 20 year military career, James Hosay has received two Meritorious Service Medals, two Army Commendation Medals, and a personal letter of commendation from the then Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Colin Powell, after writing a special march for the General's retirement ceremony.

Now retired from the U.S. Army, Mr. Hosay once again resides in the Norfolk, Virginia area and has become sucessful as a published composer writing music for all levels of concert, symphonic, brass and military bands, as well as producing several new recordings of music for symphonic band.

Jay BocookSteven Hodges earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Western Oregon University in1972 and, in 1975, completed his Master of Music Education degree at Central Washington University. Heavily involved in public school music education for thirty years, his posts have included Director of Bands and Choirs at Petersburg Elementary School in The Dalles, Orgon and Director of Music for the Dufur School District. Mr. Hodges has Been Director of Bands for the Chenowith School District in The Dalles since 1989. His duties have expanded as he directs all bands and choirs for grades 6-12.

Mr. Hodges has written over sixty-five concert band compositions since 1986, all published by Alfred Publishing Co. He has also published a number of choral arrangements. Mr. Hodges' commissioned works have been composed for schools in British Columbia, Iowa, North Carolina, Virginia, Winnipeg, Oregon and Washington. His concert band music has been programmed at many music conventions, as well as in Washinton, DC for the celebration of the Bicentennial of the Bill of Rights. A member of ASCAP, Mr. Hodges' music has been selected for use on the TBS and ESPN television networks as well as over the airwaves in many countries around the world.

Mr. Hodges and his wife, Teddie, have been married for 25 years and five children.

Robert SheldonRichard L. Saucedo is currently Director of Bands and Performing Arts Department Chairman at Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana. Under his direction, Carmel bands have received numerous state and national honors in the areas of concert, jazz and marching. The Carmel High School Wind Symphony was invited to the Bands of America National Concert Band Festival in 1992 and 1999 and was named the Indiana Stae Champion concert band in 1999. The Carmel Marching Greyhounds have finished in the top ten at the Bands of America Grand national Championship for the past five years and have been invited to perform at th All-Japan Marching Band Championships in Tokyo in 2002. Mr. Saucedo was named Indiana's "Band master of the Year" for 1998-99 by the Indiana Bandmasters Association.

The band program at Carmel currently serves 350 instrumentalists in four concert bands, four jazz ensembles, a 200 member marching band, a 140 member pep band, a competitive and non-competitive winter color guard, a competitive winter drumline, 3 music theory classes, a jazz imrovisation class , a music technoolgy class and two percussion classes.

Mr. Saucedo is a freelance arranger and composer, having released numerous marching band arrangements, concert band works and choral compositions. He is currently on the writing staff for the Hal Leonard Publishing Corporation. Mr. Saucedo is constantly in demand as an adjudicator, clinican and guest conductor for concert band, jazz band, marching band, orchestra and show choir. He has served as Music Caption Head for the Drum Corps Midwest Judges Guild and as brass and music judge for Drum Corps Internationl. Mr. Saucedo is currently brass arranger and music ensemble consultant for the DCI World Champion Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps from Rosemont, Illinois. The Cavaliers performed a show of original music by Mr. Saucedo during the 2002 Drum Corps International Season.

Mr. Saucedo did his undergraduate work at Indiana University in Bloomington and finished his masters degree an Butler University in Indianapolis.
